Postgraduate Scholarships


University of the Arts London is pleased to offer a number of scholarships to those wishing to study at postgraduate level. These awards are funded by generous private donations, company donations, philanthropic charities and University funds. The scholarships range from fee waivers to full support for a year or more. Please see the individual awards for details of application procedures and application forms.

Please note: these scholarships are available for taught postgraduate courses only. For information on PhD funding visit the research funding opportunities pages.

 

The Ashley Family Foundation Scholarship


There are two scholarships available; one for the MA Textile course at Chelsea and a second for the MA Photography course at LCC.


2014/2015 entry is now closed.

One Ashley Family Foundation Scholarship valued at £7,500 to cover full tuition fees will be available for a student accepted on the MA Textile course at Chelsea College of Arts, commencing October 2014.


A second Ashley Family Foundation Scholarship will be available, for one applicant accepted on the MA Photography course at London College of Communication commencing January 2015. It is valued at £12,000, covering tuition fees and providing a contribution towards course-related costs.‌

The Ashley Family Foundation (formerly The Laura Ashley Foundation) is a UK registered charity, founded by Sir Bernard Ashley and his wife Laura Ashley following the success of the Laura Ashley brand.

 

The Cordwainers MA Scholarship


The Cordwainers MA Scholarship of £8000 is available to one Home/ EU or international student accepted on the MA Fashion Artefact or MA Fashion Footwear courses at London College of Fashion.

Applications now open for 2015/16 entry. Closing date: 1pm on Friday 5 June 2015.

The scholarship will cover Home/ EU tuition fees and contribute towards international tuition fees.

The Cordwainers Scholarship aim is to promote postgraduate study at London College of Fashion to students with the ability and potential to make an exceptional contribution to the fashion industry.

Applications welcome from those unable to finance themselves through postgraduate study and who will benefit from further study to realise their full potential.

The HKADC UAL Scholarships


The Hong Kong Arts Development Council (ADC) provides two HKADC UAL Scholarships to international students who are Hong Kong permanent residents enrolling on the MA Media Communication and Critical Practice at London College of Communication in September 2015 or the MA Culture Criticism and Curation at Central Saint Martins.

Applications now open for 2015/16 entry. Closing date: 6.30pm on Friday 27 March 2015.

To strengthen the training of arts administrators and curators to meet the demand of arts talents, the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (ADC) invites applications for the 'HKADC UAL Scholarships 2015’. With funding support from the Home Affairs Bureau, the scheme is aimed at supporting local potential arts administrators and curators to develop their professionalism through studying abroad.

Each awardee will receive a bursary of £25,000 which includes payment of current course tuition fees and a contribution towards living costs.

To be considered you must:

▪ be a Hong Kong Permanent Resident at the time of applying for the scholarship

▪ have at least three years of paid work experience in the arts/cultural sector and demonstrate a strong commitment to the sectors

▪ must apply for either the MA Media Communication and Critical Practice at London College of Communication in September 2015 or the MA Culture Criticism and Curation at Central Saint Martins in January 2016

▪ fulfil any language, health and immigration requirements applicable for study in the UK.

ISH/UAL Graduate Scholarships


For the 2015/2016 academic year, University of the Arts London and International Students House are offering three joint tuition fee and housing scholarships to international postgraduate students.

These scholarships will be awarded to individuals with the ability and potential to make an exceptional contribution to the creative community. We hope the scholarships will enable talented international students from emerging countries to realise their full potential through further study at UAL, who would not otherwise have had the means to do so.

The three ISH/UAL Graduate Scholarships are linked to specific courses so students accepted to study upon the courses listed below are eligible to apply.

The Jane Rapley Scholarship


The Jane Rapley Scholarship awards a sum of £3,000 each year, to a student currently studying on a MA or MRes course at Central Saint Martins.

2014/2015 entry is now closed.

The scholarship is open to students on a one year course and to students in their first year of a two year course. The Jane Rapley Scholarship Fund has been set up in honour of the former Head of College Professor Emerita Jane Rapley to help support students at Central Saint Martins and ensure the college continues its strong tradition of providing outstanding education for future generations of talented art, design and drama students.

The scholarship is particularly focused on supporting students in financial need, who require support to enable them to complete their degrees. The scholarship will provide a contribution towards materials and maintenance costs. Home/ EU and International students firstly will be nominated by Course Leaders in Spring 2014 who have the ability and potential to make an exceptional contribution to their chosen industry. Following this, application forms will be sent to the shortlisted students for completion. The scholarship will be awarded according to financial need and academic merit.

The Kurt Geiger MA Scholarship


The Kurt Geiger MA Scholarship of £15,000 is available for one Home/E. U or International student accepted on the on MA Footwear or MA Artefact courses at London College of Fashion.

Applications now open for 2015/16 entry. Closing date: 1pm on Friday 5 June 2015.

The Kurt Geiger MA Scholarship aims to promote Postgraduate studies at the London College of Fashion to students with the ability and potential to make an exceptional contribution to the fashion industry.

Applicants must also have graduated from University of the Arts London within the last five years.

The Leverhulme Arts Scholarships


The Leverhulme Arts Scholarships provide five bursaries to exceptionally talented Home/ EU and International students studying MA Screen at Central Saint Martins' Drama Centre London.

2014/2015 entry is now closed.

The Leverhulme Trust has been a longstanding supporter of Central Saint Martins: Drama Centre London.

Applications are encouraged from Home/ EU and International students who will benefit from postgraduate studies to realise their full potential and who are unable to finance themselves through their studies.

The scholarships will be awarded, according to financial need and academic merit, to five MA Screen students Home/ EU and International students at £1,200 each.

The L'Oreal Professionnel Scholarships

The L'Oreal Professionnel Scholarships are open for the 14/15 academic year for students accepted onto the MA Fashion course at Central Saint Martins.

Once you have been offered and accepted a place on the CSM MA Fashion course, you will be automatically considered for the L'Oreal Scholarships by a College internal panel.

There is no application form.


The Mead Scholarships & Fellowships

The Mead Scholarships and Fellowships are one of the most prestigious student and graduate support programmes at the University, designed to support University of the Arts London students and recent graduates in the pursuit of excellence through the development of their creative practice.

The Mead Scholarships and Fellowships are for talented students and graduates who have demonstrated outstanding ideas and excellence in practice across a wide range of creative sectors, or the use of creative solutions in other sectors.

The Mead Scholarship will provide up to three awards of up to £2500 each for Undergraduate students who have already exhibited a high level of creative potential and excellence in practice, and have one further year of study at UAL following receipt of the grant, thus allowing them the summer period before entering their final year of study to develop a body of research and/or practice at a crucial time.

The Mead Fellowship will provide up to two awards of up to £10,000 each to new and recent graduates, allowing them the time and flexibility to develop a body of research and/or practice after their graduation.

The Mead Programme is managed by SEE (Student Enterprise and Employability) and generously supported by philanthropist Scott Mead, for an initial five years, beginning 2012/13. Scott Mead is a fine art photographer, philanthropist and investor based in London for over 20 years. From his base in London, many of his current business and philanthropic activities take him to the United States and Asia on a regular basis.

Scott's photographs have been exhibited and sold in the UK, Europe and USA and are held in various private and institutional collections. He is involved with a number of major institutions in education, healthcare and the arts through the Mead Family Foundation, of which he is Founder and Chairman.

He has had over 30 years of experience in the financial services sector, including as a partner and managing director of Goldman Sachs, which he left in 2003, and an investor and director with start-up businesses in media and technology.

New World Development Scholarships


The New World Development Scholarships aim is to promote excellence in design by financially supporting MA students from Central Saint Martins who are deemed to have the ability and potential to make an exceptional contribution to the design industries.

Applications now open for 2015/16 entry. Closing date: 1pm on Friday 29 May 2015.

The scholarships are very generously supported by Adrian Cheng of New World Development Company Limited.

The scholarships are valued at £10,300 for international students and will be a contribution towards tuition fees.

The scholarships are open to first and second year students on the MA Narrative Environments course at Central Saint Martins, who are ordinarily resident in Hong Kong or Mainland China.‌

The Patrick & Kelly Lynch Scholarship


The Patrick and Kelly Lynch Scholarship will be offered to Home/ EU and international students accepted on the full-time MA Fine Art course at Chelsea College of Arts.

Applications now open for 2015/16 entry. Closing date: 1pm on Friday 5 June 2015.

A scholarship has been established by Patrick and Kelly Lynch for students who wish to study Fine Art at postgraduate level. Patrick and Kelly are contemporary art collectors and University Patrons.

The scholarship will fully fund tuition fees for a Home/ EU student, and will be a contribution towards tuition fees for an international student.

Applications are encouraged from students who will benefit from postgraduate studies to realise their full potential and who are in financial hardship.‌
